Any 'mil-spec' upper should mate with the lower.  They're billet machined, and the profile may be a bit different. But, those cosmetic differences shouldn't affect function.

They sell stand alone uppers.

I don’t know anyone that’s ever regretted a BCM purchase.

I’m not sure they exist.

Man you’re deep in the rabbit hole...

The search for “the One Rifle” gets that way.

Just an update.

Ive ruled out the LaRue PredatOBR 5.56 primarily because of weight and its relatively short lifespan barrel. I love the idea of the takedown barrel and handguard. The PredatAR as recommended by @mikegideon looks like a great light option but a want something I can be comfortable putting lots of rounds through in classes and the pencil barrel might not be the best fit for my purpose.

Let me qualify this. I don't own any LaRue rifles. I suggested them because they are top shelf, and I love the company. I do have a couple of their QD scope mounts, and believe they are the best on the planet. Besides, anybody that includes three pocket sized copies of the Constitution and a jar of Dillo Dust is tops in my book. Guns, 'merica, and cooking meat with fire. They got the basics down.
