The Marlin 189C is Back

Looks like Marlin has finally gotten their act together and started making .357 lever actions again.

Was at a gun store today and the conversation turned to Marlin .357’s and the guy said that they have in fact started production again after a long hiatus and are shipping now.  He also claimed to “know a guy” that works in R&D at Remlin or some such thing and the guy said “they did it right”.

This excites me.

Fingers crossed that they are really done right and at a fair price.  Basically the only reason I don't own one right now is the fact that they are very pricey.  I'd love to see one under 5 Bills.  Probably not going to happen though.

It’s not.  Think around $650 or about the same price of the current .44’s.  MSRP is $788.62.

I wish they would bring back the .41 Mag, my blackhawk has been lonely for a looooonnng time.

Henry started making one a couple years back.

I got one of the first 250, a real shooter, mine has only seen cast boolits.

Would be nice if Remlin could finally figure out the lever guns.

I still wouldn't buy one I couldn't touch first.

Hopefully they will be better than the current crap. A few years after Remington took over Marlin , I was looking at the Lever 336 . I have an old one from the 60's but wanted the newer ones , I think they were the real short Youth models that are very short to use as a brush type gun for deer. I looked at 4 different ones and all had their tubular magazines twisted very badly and wasn't lining up correctly with the barrel . The front sights were also very far off to the left or right. You could see it very easily even laying on the shelf.

That looks more like something Taylor's and Co. would do.

If Remington made I'd want to hold it before I bought it for sure.

Just sayin

Everyone can thank me, I bought a Rossi about a month ago. Just my luck.

Not been long since I bought one too.

Wish Marlin would bring back the Camp 9 and the Camp 45. They would sell a ton of them.  Why they don't is beyond me.

Ruger's PC Carbine is outstanding, better than the old Camp 9, will lead market share, so I don't expect it.

Ruger almost always adds additional calibers and stylings for a given line, so, I'd posit there will be others soon.

They have no appeal to me ever since they cut them for a cross bolt safety. It just grinds me to see it sticking out. No matter how much I try to kinda like it.... I just can't acquire a taste for the political butchery of a fine traditional design that has stood the long test of time. :(
