Erik88, I'm not going to get into a dumb debate about why you somehow think these dead people were supposedly likely safe.  It didn't work out well.  It was 100% predictable.  The outcome speaks volumes.  If you don't believe me, go grab a bike and take a ride in any "Stan" place and let us know how it turns out.

Erik88, you are so defensive about these biker's decisions it is really weird.  Go over there, rent a bike, take a trip down the road and let us know how it works out.   My guess as to the likelihood of that happening ------------------  0.0000000000%

So why do you care about this so much?   Something is OFF here........

My cousins were unofficial missionaries in Bishkek Kyrgyzstan for 6-8 years about a decade ago. That's even further from Pakistan than where these 2 went.

Even in the relative safety of a big city and speaking Russian reasonably fluently, there were occasional issues. There were places they could go, and places they knew to stay away from. They were raising a family and the rise of the Islamic state was one of the reasons they left.

Your family members were smart and got the hell out. These young people actually went in. Most people that are civilians that go into those countries have a military or private security Team escort them in and out and sometimes even that turns bad.

Let's face the facts. They were ignorant before their trip & craved social media attention. Now they're no longer ignorant & are getting sociel media attention. Be careful what you wish for.

The same kind of naive thinking that this couple exhibited is what causes so many other poor real life decisions by progressive liberals. I understand that they want the world to be a peaceful and loving place, and if I could clap my hands and make that happen, I’d do it. Unfortunately, we live in the real world, which is sometimes a brutal, ugly and unsafe place. If more people really understood that, we wouldn’t have so many anti-gun groups, illegal alien protectors and snowflakes that get their feelings hurt when someone says something they don’t like or don’t agree with.

I wish this couple hadn’t died, but I have little sympathy for them. They intentionally put themselves in a dangerous situation to try and prove a point that they were naively wrong about. I have more sympathy for their friends and family that survive with the heartache and loss of a loved one. Perhaps if any good is to come from this, it is that maybe their death will change the hearts and minds of others and make them realize that the world really isn’t a peaceful and loving place and probably never will be...I think history should teach us that, but the snowflakes just want to erase history so they don’t learn from it.
