Chicago Gun Control - Working Like Gangbusters (Or just working for the gangs)

A model weekend for gun control's leading city. Seventy one shot with 12 killed. Mayor Rahm has gun control hitting on all cylinders (if you are a gang member). Not so much if you are a law abiding citizen.

It doesn’t have anything to do with gun laws. Memphis has a higher murder rate than Chicago and citizens there are armed.

It has to do with deciding who is running the city; the gangs or the people. Untie the hands of the cops and tell them to stop the problem, call in ICE and give them a free hand, get some hard core prosecutors, sit back and watch.

Last time Chicago was under some semi-balance of order was in the era before Capone.  Since then it's been some variation of criminal element running amuck. 

It's still a safe enough place to visit, just keep to the tourist spots and don't wander into a bad area.

If Capone was still alive and running the city there would not be all the shootings and killings they have now. Capone had control of the city and he was the boss. If the Mayor had a problem he took it to Al Capone and Capone took care of it. There was no street gangs. There were families and the family was responsible for their own territories and if anyone needed killing it was done. It was never kids killing kids like it is today up there.  If the Mayor of Chicago would turn his police loose and take the cuffs off them and bring in ICE like Dave mentioned all the killing would stop except the ones killed by law enforcement during them doing their job. When a mayor tells his police officers to stay out of certain housing projects where most of the crimes take place you can bet that is where the gangs and head drug dealers are located. and are the ones padding his pocket with big bucks...................JMHO

Listening to Chicago radio last week.  A city councilman was on talking about new rules being considered for police.  The police have always had to fill out a report for every weapon discharge.  Now they want to to do the same for every time they unholster their weapon.  The councilman went as far as saying "we need to find out why our police officers are so trigger happy".  Yes there are bad cops, but as the saying goes don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

I think city government needs to work with the police and not be an enemy of the police.  Thanks Obama for the rhetoric.

Seems to me the Police aren't trigger happy enough!  But the gangs sure are!!!  Does the City Council Person want them to fill out a form too?

Maybe the city council person will go on patrol with the Chicago PD and experience some of the reasons the police unholster their firearms. Fantasy thinking again but it makes me feel good.

Well according to the news lastnight, it's not a Chicago problem, the problem is the surrounding states that make it easy for illegal evil guns to make there way into the city!!!! TOTAL LIBERAL BS

The person buying a gun in another state must provide all the same information for a back ground check as they do in Illinois so it is not the surrounding states causing the problem. It's Illinois Law Enforcement having their hands time and not being able to do their job they are hired and trained to do............JMHO

@john455  - The City of Chicago has clearly failed to hold these firearms accountable.  Everybody there agrees that the violence is caused by guns, yet not a single gun has been charged with homicide and sent to prison.

The only problem with Homan Square is the only people they hold there are druggies. There are no violent offenders held there. The reason for that might be because the ones that are padding the Mayors pockets all have get out of jail free cards. They are holding thousands upon thousands of druggies in there and it has not even slowed down the numbers of shootings in Chicago on any given weekend. Looks to me lke they are arresting the wrong bad guys huh?
