Naa, I just renewed mine today.  I suppose it stems from them already having your fingerprints on record.  Had to re-answer all the proforma questions, and list any addresses for the past five years.  Logic suggests they'll run a fresh TBI check and since I expect nothing unfavorable, hope they'll get my permit in the mail before too long.

If your DL photo is fairly recent, they'll use that one on your carry permit.  If it's more than a couple of years old, they require you to get a new photo.

they told me I needed to get a new one in person.  I guess my old one was too old.

They just want to see how much hair is growing in your ears nowadays.

Last renewal i had to go in person. The lady at the dmv indicated that indeed new pics of old men are required.

Interesting I just renewed in March and didn't need to get a new photo. Drivers license photo was a few months short of 3 years old. Also an old guy.

Thanks for the info, renewed and upgraded to life time so I don't have to mess with it anymore. I'm 47 so not sure if it will come out cheaper for the lifetime but pulled the trigger on it anyway lol
