Need help or advice from a computer guru

I keep getting a window telling me I have 17 intel drivers not working! My security network keeps trying the charge me $39.95 to correct the issue.Then I get another window showing that all my drivers are working and I don't need to do anything. I have been noticing my computer has slowed down with connecting and I am getting screens telling me that page cannot be opened. My security company has began charging me monthly for a service but have never really made it clear what it is. I think it might be time to change companies as I am tired of talking to people in the Phillipines about these issues. I have this feeling that they may be the reason I keep getting the Intel drivers not working and they are just trying to sell me something else. Any one got any ideas?????? Notice!!! I am computer illiterite!!

I could go on at great lengths but...1) who is your “security” company.  2). Do you ever clear your browser cache out?  3)  Do you have some type of virus/malware protection running?  4). Do you know how to clear out your temp folder?  5). What operating system are you running and is it up to date,  with the latest security patches?

1 ) AVG Security, 2) browser cache??? 3) not sure 4) disc clean?  5)Windows 7

Get somebody over there that can do as Garufa says, sounds like you are way overdue for a general “cleanup” on your computer.  Ditch the AVG paid account, if you have to go with them use the freeware version instead (I used AVG for a long time then eventually moved on to different virus/malware protection). Computers need an occasional cleaning/tuneup to avoid issues like you’re having, but it’s difficult to talk somebody through the process if they don’t have some basic knowledge of the types of things involved ...

You either have a virus, or stumbled upon a web page that is hijacking your browser. Sometimes a set of drivers will call home and see if there are updated versions, but it's unusual, and they usually aren't too in your face about it.

First try to determine what is popping that window up. If it's just in a browser window (Chrome, Internet Explorer) then it's one of the above. Clear the browser cache, and a good reboot may clear it up, if it's just in your browser. If you have a full-blown virus, you'll have to clean that off. I like to use Malware Bytes https://www.malwarebytes.com/ for removing a virus, and malware. Download the free version, install it, run it and let it clean up your PC.

Make sure you have a good Antivirus. Sounds like AVG didn't do it's job very well. Make sure it has the latest definitions installed.

Look through your installed programs occasionally and see if there is anything that looks suspicious, and uninstall it.

The first and best line of computer security is the component that is in between the keyboard and the chair (you). Don't go to shady web sites. Think before you click on anything. Do not mindlessly click on any pop-ups. Don't download and run anything unless you intended to, and trust the download. If a web site says you need to install something, you probably don't.

Probably way over your skill set, but for the benefit of others that may be reading this, and are a little more tech savvy, Google "No Ads Host File", and consider using a custom hosts file on your PC. It will prevent you from even being able to connect to a bad web site. The first thing I do when someone brings me a crapped up computer is put on a hosts file. I'm sure they are pissed afterward when they can't get to their favorite porn sites, but they never bring it back to me with crap on it.

Thanks for to advice as it is always nice to learn even the smallest things about these machines. I doubt I will ever figure this machine out and my grandson wanted to make life easier on me so knowing I use a simple flip phone all the time he gave me a new phone all programed up with an easy to work set up. It's a Samsung 7 phone that can do anything this computer can do and make and receive phone calls.  He also brought me two fancy little gadgets and hooked them to my TV sets and I can watch about any movie that has ever been made for the big screen or TV using a program on the phone. I have watched movies I remember watchin back when I was a kid that were black and white and made in 1945. I aslo use the channel 5 weather app to check on storms in the area but have yet to make a call on it. He said he was updating phones to the Samsung 10
