I could see where some military and Law Enforcement would use this for safety.

It’s like a reflective belt for your rifle!

I sorta see the loaded chamber, but totally safe idea, but the first time someone yanks one out and it slam fires they will stop using them. Especially in the military where debris can work its way in between the bcg and live round. Slamming that forward with a pea gravel in the way is playing russian roulette.

Plus wouldn't a side charging AR be pretty much the same motion and time?

But why do either?  Either it's loaded or it isn't. Do they carry their side arms with an empty chamber?

Like the Emerson wave feature. You leave the vehicle and it racks the gun. In the case of the French, you don't wanna be surrendering your gun with an empty chamber. Makes you look like a sissy.

This thing leaves the action open to dirt I can't see how in a military application that it won't cause malfunctions.

I do see how it helps train a lot of people to use the same motion to load on a variety of guns.

It's not for me though...

As someone who has carried a loaded M-16 for work for many years in a variety of environments and terrain, I certainly understand the problem.  Carrying with a round in the chamber but on safe does pose some dangers when crawling or in the woods or whatever.  Accidental discharges can happen that way even if you keep your finger off of the trigger. Its not like a pistol where the weapon stays safely holstered until needed.  The rifle is carried and slung and put down, etc, repeatedly.   It requires constant checking of the safety. So I see the point of this.  So I guess it depends on the situation.  It does seem like a faster way to chamber a round but the negatives of this device to me seem to outweigh the positives.

But the French ordered them with black handles.  :screwy:  I guess they don’t want their subjects to know they’re running around with empty chamber weapons.

I was making a reference to the ubiquitousness of pt belts for army folks in Iraq.

I have to live that and i think I've gotten all of the common sense it took away back after almost ten years.

I still remember an email one of our team leaders wrote where he ended his description of measures he had to comply with that he felt were keeping his team from doing their jobs with, "and we'll wear our PT belts when driving at night."
