Anyone make a Will online?

I'm looking for advice on this topic. Someone recommended Legal Zoom but I'd like to get some feedback from TGO before I figure out what route I want to go.

I would contact an attorney and have it done correctly to Tennessee standards.  Not that Legal Zoom wills are not valid or couldn't stand up to scrutiny, but why take a chance?  BTW, there is more than just a will to consider, there is a living will, general durable power of attorney, and power of attorney for health care decisions.  Those are the big 4.

Not saying you need all those at this time or in the near future, but something to think about...regardless of marital status.

• Look or ask around for someone experienced in estate planning.  You may or may not need a full blown estate plan, but someone local with the experience can write a simple will, POA, etc., for a few dollars more.  You will get exactly what you want instead of a boiler plate will that may create more confusion than anything else.  
• Ask a local trust dept or financial advisor for a list of who they recommend, or your stock broker if you use one.  they are usually running in the same social circles.

I printed copies of blank wills both Estate and Living and filled them out the way I wanted them. Took two witesses with me to notary had the witnesses sign it in front of Notary, He stamped them both and it cost 20 bucks for notary. Now that being said I don't have anything worth family fighting over it. Final expenses are already paid and everything I really want any one person to have in the family I have already given to them. I have a excutor and a back up just in case one can't do it the other can handle it. Both friends I would trust with my life and in this case my death.  I checked it out with a friend that is an attorney and he said it is all legal in Tennessee.

This. It is not that expensive. When I sit down with someone for financial planning this is the first step. Can you do it online,yes, but I've seen mistakes that have coat people a lot of money or ended up in court.

I did the Legal Zoom thing and it worked for my purposes.  My situation is fairly simple and I consider it mostly as a medium to convey my wishes. I don't expect there will be much squabbling over who inherits my hundreds. I got several copies notarized and stashed in a few locations. 

As I get older and situations change, I do expect to go the route Garufa suggests at some point down the road.

A lot of it will depend on how complicated the settlement of your estate would be.  Everything going to one or two people, easy enough for something like Legal Zoom, but if you have a lot or multiple things to bequeath among family and friends, it would probably best be served by a lawyer you can talk through options with a probate lawyer.

Not sure where you are in east tn @Erik88but Ive had several legal matters taken care of by what I consider my "go to" legal advisor and he's right here on TGO. That would be @JReedEsq. My father wanted to get a will drawn up and while it wasn't very specific or highly detailed he would have NEVER agreed to having one done online. I've used Mr. Reed several times and he's always attentive to your needs and doesn't try to rush you back out the door for the next guy in the lobby.
