Mine wasn't very reliable. Pretty frequent failures to feed and the occasional stovepipe.

I've had better luck with my S&W 1006.

I want one of the new Delta Elites, but Colt cant seem to get them made in the year since they released them at SHOT 2008. So if I had to buy one now it would be the Dan Wesson (CZ) Classic Bobtail in 10mm. The gun fits my hand very good and it comes with factory night sites. Check it out if you want a 10mm 1911.

I had a SS Delta Elite for a while, it was flawless. I think Wilson makes mags for them that might help your reliability problem. The one I had I sold for 850 about 6 years ago.
