If by "Oil barons" they mean OPEC and their kind, I'm not sure I'd agree. It seems more like it was the speculators who were driving up the price. And what that's got to do with the price of an AK, I don't know.

I'm with you, Patrick.The general consensus in the finance community is that the opening up of the commodities market (with a not-so-polite nudge from ENRON) was responsible for the outrageous oil prices. Instead of airlines using the ComEx to secure fuel prices and manage costs, speculators bought up all the oil paper they could find in hopes that they could flip it.

Yes.. but I do see where he is comming from, the wholesalers haven't risen their prices to warrant the prices that are being sold out on the direct market (private sales) and retail market (stores) on firearms and ammo.

my take on the ad is a false sense of demand, and an intentionally shortened supply, both meant to drive prices based on fear and speculation.

and the sheeple who think that overnight guns and ammo will be banned and the tinfoilers who think they need 50k rounds of ammo , and the businesses who are lying to the customers about supply are making it hard to keep anything stocked, which makes it easier to justify price hikes.....it's a vicious cycle
