I want to be a pearl

In nature, an oyster is able to expel 99.9% of the sand that enters it's shell.

It is that one tiny grain of sand that irritates the oyster. In response, the oyster begins to bathe that irritant with a liquid and ultimately, the liquid coating hardens and becomes a pearl.

Once the pearl is formed, the oyster doesn't stop, it's continues to add to the protective coating.

If you subscribe to God and creation, consider this; in all of God's perfection in the universe, is one small tiny irritant to God, the sin which makes this the  imperfect world on which we reside.

So like the pearl, God bathes the world with liquid in the form of the blood of Christ to protect it from the irritant.

Within me, that same liquid washes away my sin and I believe if I keep my eye on the prize, like the pearl, that liquid will continue to flow and harden to become my growing armor of faith.

Please Lord, help me to be a beacon of light in the darkness, protect me from myself and hypocrisy, that my thoughts be upon you, and that others can see Jesus Christ reflected in my words and actions.
