Glock Armorer course

Templar in Tullahoma is hosting a Glock Armorer course. Am considering taking it but really have no purpose other than personal. 

Anyone have any comments on what a civilian/veteran who works in IT Security might do with this skill other than work on my own toys?

I'm just a civilian nobody that took the class about 5 or 6 years ago.

I didn't/don't have any way to make money being a Glock Certified Armorer, not even sure what the market is for that.

All that being said, I'm glad I took the class. It was an enjoyable day, learned to be fairly efficient disassembling/assembling Glocks.  I don't remember learning any super secret armorers-only info.  They also hand out a nice, lay-flat, spiral bound manual with all the stuff you learn.  You also get to buy parts directly from Glock for the 3 years your certification is valid (not that important anymore since there are several other places to get them).  I didn't renew it after my 3 years was up.

I just work on my & immediate family's Glocks (in the rare event that something needs attention). But I know that I was taught the official way to do it, which gives me piece of mind. 

Can you get the same info for free on YouTube (at least for the next couple of days)? Probably.

I went to Smyrna and took it twice. I really enjoyed it.

I took the Armorer's course. Wife proclaimed it was my anniversary present. (She got a S&W M&P Compact 22.)

Definitely enjoyed it, but fingers were sore by the end of the day. Instructor was very good. I missed one question on the test... and a guy who teaches instructor courses missed the same question, so don't feel so bad. Came home with  Waiting now for certificate.

We worked primarily on Gen5 G17 or G19, but also on Gen3 & Gen4 frames. Learned more than enough to confidently take care of my own. Also willing to do some inspections to gain experience looking at more than just my own.

Saturday I took apart my new to me G19 Gen2 and boy did it need a good cleaning. Waiting for the certificate to come in so I can order all of the springs.

Now the desire is definitely there to build one from a Polymer 80 frame. So anyone out there who has upgraded and has spare G19 Gen3 parts collecting dust (barrel, slide, trigger etc), lemme know.
