This just made my Friday.  Watching Dave Grohl's reactions after he pulled this guy onstage in Austin on Wednesday is just great.  No way he was expecting that level of competence:

Got other examples of people just shining when they get their moment in the light? Post it up.

Monkey Wrench is on a few of my playlists that I listen to when I run.  It's doubtful that I'll ever hear that song again without hearing, "come on Kiss Guy" in the back of my head.

So funny that you made this thread as a similar subject came up on Reddit today.

In 1973 the drummer for The Who passed out on stage. They then asked if anyone in the crowd could play drums. 19 year old Scott Halpin stepped forward from the crowd and joined them on stage.

The video isn't great but here it is. 1:39 mintues is when they ask the crowd for help. He starts drumming at 1:40 and went on to play the rest of the show with them.

Grohl seems to do that pretty regularly. It's become "a thing" at their shows where guys sit down front with signs that say "I want to play ____". So he brings them up and they kill it.

Then theres this kid...

I was thinking about this guy as you posted this.  How incredible is that? A 36 year-old accountant goes out there when their goalies get injured - and blocks 7 for 7 in the net.

Quite.

I saw a great graphic that showed several hall of fame goalies and their goals against average.  I can't find it now but it looked like this....

Roy  0.92

Hasek 0.94

Belfour 0.88

Foster 0.00

I had this in mind as I first read the thread.  Despite the gravity of the moment (which he very much rose up to), Kiss Guy probably practiced those riffs for a long time beforehand.  The guy who got put into a live NHL game had no way to prepare himself for that level of competition.

I saw the Foo Fighters in San Diego around 2003 or 2004. I guy got an stage and Dave starts giving the guy crap for it telling him he must have a large set of balls to jump up on his stage. Dave started ragging him to whip out his balls. Then all of a sudden the guys balls were projected up on the jumbo-tron. Dave cracked up.
