I believe that Governor Patterson plans on running again and well be facing Andrew Cumo and wants the votes from up state NY which is much more conservative than NYC.

She was actually endorsed and lobbied for by Chuck Schumer. He felt the party needed a woman from upstate to hold onto that seat in 2010.
