...have been populated as of yesterday. Legislature site now appears to be updated with the committee info as well.

http://www.capitol.tn.gov/house/committees/

Here's the new makeup of our favorite subcommittee, Criminal Practice and Procedure:

Committee Officers

* Eric Watson, Chair (R-Cleveland)

* Janis Sontany, Vice-Chair (D-Nashville)

Members

* Eddie Bass (D-Prospect)

* Karen Camper (D-Memphis)

* Chad Faulkner (R-?)

* Judd Matheny (R-Tullahoma)

So an even split there... I think we all know already how Sontany will vote on carry bills. Seems like Bass was a toss-up, but I don't know anything about Camper.

From a larger standpoint, since there are an even number of committee members, what happens if the vote is split on a bill? Does it succeed or fail? seems like this might have been discussed last session, but I forgot already.

Furthermore, Speaker Williams has come out and said he's going to get gun stuff to the floor... wonder if he'll actually sit in on committee sessions to make sure of that...

John Harris of the TFA thinks there are enough Pro-2A dems on the sub-comittee to move the bills out of the comittee. FWIW

On tie votes, the bill does not move out of committee and is dead.

The Speaker of the house and Speaker Pro-Tem can both sit in on any committee or sub-committee meeting and vote if the choose to period.

I think you may thinking of the Vice President casting tie-breaking votes in the US Senate.

I heard on the radio the other day that he was filling the committees proportional to the make-up of the house. As evenly as possible but with a tip towards Repubs where possible.
