Vermont Rolls Over

Recommended Posts

The Vermont legislature just passed and sent to the Governor a gun control bill, including a ban on "high capacity" magazines.

This, from a state which has always been Constitutional carry, and always had open carry for both long and handguns.  Who knows, those are probably at risk now.

It's gettin' ugly out there........

I dunno.  He says he supports it.  Here's what the Wall Street Journal just had to say about that:

Gov. Scott said in a statement after Friday’s vote that he supports the new bill, along with two other gun-control measures that are advancing in the legislature, because he believes they uphold constitutional rights “while taking reasonable steps to reduce the risk of violence.” A spokeswoman confirmed he plans to sign all three bills pending a technical review.

That's great!!!

It is.  Magnul gave away tons of magazines when Colorado passed their law...then subsequently relocated from that state.

Looks like Colorado has realized their mistake and just voted to repeal their magazine limits.

Tennessee will hold hearings on 3 anti gun bills Tuesday. Call your reps!

Vermont is probably a lost cause.

I've not been able to find how they're defining "high capacity". This is the bill they refer to, but I don't see it in there.

If you can tolerate muddling through the horrible presentation that state gives their citizens of legislative actions I think the 10 round may limit is in a house amendment.

I sent an e-mail to everyone of our representatives from Tennessee stressing my dislike for all three of these bills

"High capacity" is defined in the bill as >10 for long guns and >15 for handguns

I assumed something similar to that but was curious if there was a difference between long guns and handguns.

I hope people are taking notes. I believe this is the 2nd Republican governor to sign new gun control legislation in the past month.

D, R or I by their name means nothing to me. Actions speak louder than any words. Time to clean house of all of them.

Vermont has some truly beautiful areas, and to think this kind of gun control will be seeded across their great land is disappointing.  They were never as a state truly in favor of guns, but their dedication to liberties was consistent in how they treated the 2nd Amendment the same as the others.  Sad times if this is signed by their Governor.

The mags were delivered and distributed.  Republican Gov. Scott is confident everyone will get used to the “new normal”.

I hope they show him how much they appreciate the new NORMAL in the next election when he is out of a job and that can be another new NORMAL for him..............JMHO
