If you dont reload the Balzer is fine. I bought all the Blazer Brass (.45) that wally world had this week.

Some say that Blazer is "Dirtier" than other ammo... but I claen my guns after a range visit anyway so that is not a deal killer for me.

Pinmaster nailed it.

I mainly shoot reloads... but if i'm particular lazy one day i'll go out and buy ammo. The aluminum cases are alright. I like the brass ones better for just a little bit more money. The brass is good for reloading... but i've found that the blazer is just a tad dirtier than my reloads (Red dot powder) but if you clean your gun who cares. What ever powder they use doesnt seem to have the greatest flash suppressant in it as i usually get really big fireballs out of my Glock 19C in broad daylight.

I had 3 boxes of .45. To me it occasionally didnt seem to charge the weapon hard enough for it to go back all the way into battery.

Was it the Blazer Brass by chance? I have thought that about the brass myself. Seems like a slow burn or something...

It blew up a cylinder in a new S&W 686 with their .357 125 grain Mags. CCI paid for it

and sent me two boxes of ammo. Other than that I have used it in 25/38/9 with

no problem.

Holy Crap!

I've shot several boxes of that in my Ruger SP101.

That's a scary friggin thought...

What was the actual reason? It was way overcharged load or what?

To OP: I've shot several hundred rounds of the alum cased Blazer 9mm through Kahr and XDs, no probs.

It was blazer brass from wally world.

The rounds just arent as clean on the outside either. I dont want to use gummy as the word but that is the closest probably.

I thought that it might have been the brass.

I will say that the batch I bought this week was much better looking brass.

No one would take the blame. I am almost sure it was overcharged ammo. This was

10 years ago,had new 686 fired a few rounds through it an fourth recoiled like a 44

Mag load and I felt burning on my hand and wrist. Most was chunks of the cylinder

but did not go into skin. CCI had me send them alum. case which was split all the way down to base. They called and said send to S&W and they would pay for repairs.

Sent gun to S&W and they sent me out a new gun free. CCI sent me some ammo.

Bad steel in cylinder?

Bad ammo?

That was very cool for Both companies to do.

Wowie...well, you didn't get hurt and gun replaced, so that's about as good an outcome from a bad event that could be...from my limited knowledge of cartridge loading, I believe there is more unused capacity in a .357 case than in most other calibers, at least with the higher density of most modern powders, so overcharging would seem to be a distinct possibility.

But assuming a great deal of automation from these big ammo makers, you'd think there would have been more than just one stray round like that.

But truly fortunate that you didn't have to get a free prosthetic hand!!

Thanks for the info on the Blazer. I don't have the cash currently to get into the reload bizz, but if I had the spare cash I would def start reloading. Today I purchased 100 rds. of the wolfe 9mm military rounds ($10/50rds). I will give them, as well as the blazer ammo a try saturday. I feel better about the blazer now. Thanks for the info.

I shot it exclusively for 2 years when you could get it dirt cheap at Academy and never had a problem. It is much cleaner than Wolf or WWB IMO. I've had more problems with WWB (which cost more BTW) and never with Blazer. BTW Blazer is the same thing as Speer/CCI and their stuff is GTG.

You're not going to save anything loading 9mm unless you loads thousands. Just buy it and save the equipment money for more ammo!

The last time I used Blazer Alum 9mm was like 10 years ago when CCA here in Knoxville had an H&K MP5 you could rent. :D Blew 200 rounds out of that thing in about 10 minutes. Performed flawlessly.

As far as Blazer Brass goes, I think it's great stuff. As long as Wally-World keeps selling it for what they do it can't be beat. I put 200 rounds of it through my CW9 in one session without any problems whatsoever. Used it in my old Smith Model 39. Works like a champ. Accurate, clean and reloadable.
