Latest Parts Kit Build

All the talk of AKs made me want to post my latest project gun, a Bulgarian AK74.  Built off a Childer's 80% blank. Not much else to say about it other than it slings brass like no one's business, almost embarrasses my G3.

It looks mismatched.

My latest build is an AR pistol. More of an assembly comparatively.

*EDIT*

Calling it mismatched doesn't mean I don't like it. ;)

Does this look better to you? It does in fact look mismatched now that it has the Magpul lower handguard on it, likely not going replace the gas tube cover for the Magpul one.  I do want to Cerakote or coat another way to get all the metal matching.

Even though my only AKM at current is wearing Magpul polymer, I prefer wood. That looks much better.

I have been thinking of some at home Cerkote or similar, I am thinking of doing my first full AR assembly, as opposed to a lower build with a complete upper. I think I might get creative.

The wood definitely does look much better, but I really want a light on all my rifles, so on the Magpul goes.

Very nice sir. I really would like to take on an AK build, just don't have the equipment to do it.

Take it on, they're fun and I have all the tools (for the most part) that you need to build one.

Nice job. I'd like to try but AK builds are not AR simple.

Thanks.  They aren't ar simple, but they really are not that much more difficult.

Sure wish there was someone around the Murfreesboro area with the rivet tools, that would help me finish up my Romanian Romy "G" build. I know, some have said just get a hammer and smash the rivets. I'm old school and was taught to do something right, or don't do it at all. I'm not unfamiliar to riveting, as I used to teach aircraft mechanics aircraft riveting, years ago. But this is a little different...getting the bucktail formed so the barrel will clear it, and having the external head look like a factory build. Yeah, I know, I'm picky about the way it looks when finished. We're all gun folks here...what's the first thing we consider when about to purchase a gun??? We want to know how it looks! Am I right or wrong? So, not only do I want my AK build to function and shoot well, I want it to look good to... and that takes the right tool for the job. Anyone got the right tools...I can rent, or possibly buy? Also willing to pay someone that "knows what they're doing" to help me get the rivets in my receiver driven. Actually, the ones I'm most concerned about are the 6 on the forward trunnion. It's a NDS 3 receiver.
