Springfield XD-9 magazine question

I recently found out that my service xd's magazine could hold 17 rounds instead of the usual 16 rounds. What gives? Does anyone else have this problem? I went to the range and actually loaded all 17 rounds in the magazine, the slide came back fine and it loaded and fed just fine.

Why is it a problem? My M&P mags do that as well.

Well i mean it isn't exactly a problem but i was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. I would also like to know if they continued using the magazine without any failure.

I don't do it with either of my XD 9's.

Just feels too "forced".

Although I haven't really read anything on XDtalk that claimed it causes a jam, or hurts springs or anything.

'Course, I also don't use .40 mags in my 9mm either, like some do.

Guess I'm just a weenie...
