I havent shopped at Dick's in years after they screwed me on a bow purchase.  This is even more reason never to even walk past the store much less into it.

LL Bean sells guns? Why did I think they were just a clothing store?

I’ve only seen their catalog and it’s always just clothing only. Oh well...

Privately-held L.L. Bean has 37 stores in 17 states, but only its main flagship store in Freeport, Maine, has a license to sell firearms, according to records from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. It also does not sell any hunting rifles or ammunition on its website, although it does sell some accessories, such as rifle bags and gun lockers.

So one local FFL changes its policy and it makes National News. :-\

The morons running Dick’s apparently think appeasing one segment of their customers will more than make up for alienating another group. This will likely mark the beginning of the end for this company, but management is too stupid to understand that.

The Dick’s in Knoxville stopped selling guns & ammo years ago, long before Academy opened a couple of miles away.  They are still open and don’t seem to be hurting for business whenever I pass by.

As long as kids need the latest soccer outfit, t-ball bat, or other assorted sports equipment, they will carry on.

This is really going to have more of an impact on the Field and Stream stores that Dick’s owns. However, I think this doubling down now on their actions of a few years ago could eventually lead to their demise. I could be wrong of course...I’ve been wrong at least once before. [emoji6]

I first saw one of those Field and Stream stores in Champaign, IL about a year or so ago. They had everything….and I mean everything. Very impressive except the prices were high. They won’t be able to compete with on-line retailers, so this latest action is crazy. Some of these stores seem to have CEO’s and Boards that are trying to put themselves out of business.

I’m not worried about it though; there will always be places to order from.

I only went to the Dick's store here once. The hunting/guns section sucked. I quickly saw that they cater to the soccer and tennis moms category. Lots of school sports stuff and pro team clothing. They know who their customer base is and it sure ain't us. :censored:

One thing you can say for 'em, they live up to the name.

They need a new sign - Get a big one at Dicks

Over the years I made the mistake of going in the store a few times, each time saying I would never go there again.

This whole stunt does absolutely nothing for the Anti's cause. Sure it makes them feel like they have done something, but it's not like the guns are outlawed and they took them off the street. The gun manufacturers are probably thinking, "Awesome, that's a gun the store already bought. Now a customer can't have that one, and we'll have to make another one to sell to him." It actually HELPS gun manufacturers. But, with lefties, it's always about feelings, and this makes them feel good. Idiots! They'ed have been better off discounting them and selling to law enforcement.

You're right.  What a total waste.  Discounting or donating them to law enforcement, or the armed forces, would have been perfect.

After all, these are "military grade"  "weapons of war."

But then again, a lot of the Antis hate the cops, and the armed forces too.   Oh well....................

I've made few purchases from Dick's. Three to be exact. A StackOn Safe during a sale in '04. A treadmill in '05. And finally that same year, a crapload of Remy 9 during a sale.

But otherwise, I found their store, for a multitude of reasons, just not to my liking.

Ooops...I'm wrong. I did make one other purchase. In '09, a distant relative was heading to Afganistan. Several of us went searching for UnderArmor gear for him. But even then, I found little there. We bought most of it at Academy.

Looks like they're doubling down :o

Dick’s Sporting Goods, which announced in February it would no longer sell rifles to anyone under the age of 21, hired three Beltway lobbyists to lobby Congress for gun control, according to federal records reviewed by The Federalist.

That's PAST doubling down, that's like tonsillitis..."Your tonsils, they guard your throat... anything bad comes in they fight it off. With tonsillitis, they have not only lost the war, they have went over and joined the other side"

Can't remember the comedian...

I wonder how much Handgun Control Incorporated slipped them to do this?

I received this email from Mossberg this afternoon.

Mossberg® Terminates Relationship with Dick’s Sporting Goods

NORTH HAVEN, CT – O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc., a leading American firearms manufacturer, announced today its decision to discontinue selling products to Dick’s Sporting Goods, and its subsidiary, Field & Stream, in response to their hiring of gun control lobbyists in April 2018.

Effective immediately, O.F. Mossberg & Sons will not accept any future orders from Dick’s Sporting Goods or Field & Stream, and is in the process of evaluating current contractual agreements.

“It has come to our attention that Dick’s Sporting Goods recently hired lobbyists on Capitol Hill to promote additional gun control.” said Iver Mossberg, Chief Executive Officer of O.F. Mossberg & Sons. “Make no mistake, Mossberg is a staunch supporter of the U.S. Constitution and our Second Amendment rights, and we fully disagree with Dick’s Sporting Goods’ recent anti-Second Amendment actions.”

Consumers are urged to visit one of the thousands of pro-Second Amendment firearm retailers to make their purchases of Mossberg and Maverick® firearms. Firearm retailers can be found through the Mossberg Dealer Locator by visiting http://www.mossberg.com/dealers/.

About O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc.

Founded in 1919, O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc. is the oldest family-owned firearms manufacturer in America, and is the largest pump-action shotgun manufacturer in the world. Leading the way with over 100 design and utility patents to its credit, and standing as the first ISO 9001 Certified long-gun manufacturer, Mossberg is considered to be one of the most innovative firearms manufacturers in U.S. History.
