Come pick through what I have. I have some beautiful boards that are too cupped or bowed to work for anything else. Also have some beautiful walnut.

What do you think SHE would like? I have plenty.

Define "plenty" :)

I've had in mind, for a computer desk, to do the following. Approximately a 2'x8' top (the length going from one wall to the other in my home office). Then, with angle brackets, fasten the ends to the left and right wall in that room. However, it'd be ~1" set forward from the wall for cable routing, etc. It would be completely flee floating off the floor, tied to the studs on the sides and somehow tied to the back wall studs with some ingenuity (either the "right" bracket, a cheater piece of wood going along the backside wall that is low enough for cables, etc).

Do you think these would be good for that, and what would you charge me for that amount? I'm not sure I'd do it, but just thinking about it and that is very pretty wood.

This is where I started..walls and ceiling painted, I also painted vanity doors in same color as walls to save a little money The top was ugly so that is where the elm vanity top  comes in.. we also updated light fixtures .. put casings around windows and installed a sliding barn door. Then put down tile.. still waiting on clawfoot tub I ordered. We get quotes from business to tell us they would charge us 20 k for redoing the bathroom or a porch..I rather do it myself and save.Dolomite also made the barn door handle to match the rollers up top..

This is " before"  ...shower was never really used as it had some really low pressure and we only really used it to bathe the dogs. Didn`t like the tub anymore as it took up soo much room. This is also after I removed a wall size mural that was a jungle scene..( that was pretty 15 years ago)

I really can’t, for a few reasons. The biggest is I do not have the wood working tools needed to do a good job. Elm doesn’t dry straight so getting an 8’ long board that is flat would be nearly impossible or at least the boards I have are not straight

Here is a pic of the top in place. A2DB86E7-C6CA-4E2E-A7EF-1EFB37F54215.thumb.jpeg.be1cb04cb57e670e651bdb0c6f296673.jpeg

Great looking work!

How did you finish the wood for vanity use (wondering about frequent water exposure & scratch resistance)?
