Old transmission

Anyone know where I could find a old three speed transmission out of a late 60's c10 sitting somewhere? Looking for a simple floor shifter one so I can use my current one as target practice.

Should have specified the year. Late 60's, I would rather get one locally.

I figured on the local. Just thought I would give you options. Good luck.

Why not stick a more modern transmission like a 5 speed in? You can make them look old but have all kinds of benefits like better gas mileage as well as better take off.

I assume you are talking about a manual transmission and not an automatic.

Yeah, I also dont want to replace the rear end and get a custom drive shaft. If I can find a transmission close to my 68, it is going to be less work overall.  I have thought about a four speed sagnaw, but I would still have to replace the rear end.

Why would you have to replace the rear end? The driveshaft is what connects to the rear end, so as long as the splines/yokes are correct for the transmission and the rear end, it all bolts up at the proper length. You might have to have your driveshaft modified, but your rear end should be fine no matter what. I have seen Ford rear ends in Toyotas.

I should have said the gearing. Thats what I will have to replace.

I don't see why you would need to replace the gearing even. What gearing do you have now?

I run a 2.79 gear in what will be a high performance car. I currently run 3.08 in a Mustang. I have ran 3.55 gears, 3.73 as well as 4.10 and all were streetable. The 4.10 was a little brutal on gas mileage but if I had a 5 speed it would have been a LOT better.

Just saying that first gear in most transmissions will work with most rear ends.
