Poor man's EDC X9?

I really, really like the EDC X9, but can't afford anywhere near the price.  Do you know of anything that would get close, and be affordable?  STI maybe?

I'm hoping someone else picks up on the X9 concept.  Springfield or SIG or Ruger could do it for a whole bunch less.  The Springfield EMP 4 Carry Contour is not that far off.  It's a neat idea and I especially like the bobtailed/no-grip safety frame, but as usual with Wilson, it costs twice what it's worth.

STI's double stacks are all based on a 2011 frame.  They probably make a Commander-sized 2011, but it's probably not as slim as an X9.

Probably not in the same class, but I  just picked up a surplus Star BM. it's about the same weight maybe a little longer and taller. But hey it was 200 bucks.

Anybody seen one locally?

It's been a while.  I've shot several that belong to others, but every single one of them ordered them online and had them transferred in.

I have been looking for a P01 Omega.  I like the 1911 trigger, and I want an all metal gun.  The P01 Omega is the only non 1911 alternative that I have thought about.  I saw a new Performance Center SW 3" 1911 advertised, that looks interesting.
