Anyone want to go shoot? Range USA is my choice, but I'd be open to going somewhere else. I'm really in the mood to get out of the house and put holes in paper. I'll be leaving around 1.

Damn I just missed you. I like Range USA, but they won't allow my 20 year old girlfriend to shoot :/ a shame since she owns her own gun and is great about safety. We need to find a local member with some land!

Yeah, dude, I agree!

I don't have to worry about Tink not being able to shoot, but a good friend is only 18 and loves shooting my pistols.

Anybody local have a place in the country with a few acres? Or know anybody?!

This is the correct question!

Its quite unfortunate that the Mid South Sport Shooters Association is so over priced for people with my kind of income.

"There is a one-time initiation fee of $400.00, plus an annual dues fee of $240.00"

They also offer a:

"Life Membership $3600.00"

I'm not sure I believe when they say they are non profit to be honest

Blame stupid kids for that one.

You didn't miss anything except seeing me spend some quality time with my snubbie. I ran about 100 +p rounds though it and managed to split the skin on my right thumb. FYI, I forgot how flapping loud that thing is with the full-house loads.

Have you ever been there? It's well worth $20/month.

$20 a month is one thing, $400 at sign up is another. I'm a college student, $400 is food for 2 months

Why wouldn't they let her shoot? My 18 year old son shoots there all the time. I'm with him but since you would be with your 20 year old girlfriend, I don't see why that would be a problem.:(

I have been there and it is worth $20 a month....but a $400 joining fee is still way above my price range. 5 kids are pretty expensive and that $400 goes a long way towards shoes, clothes, school supplies and food.

Insurance regulations and a mixture of state laws. 18-20 can fire long guns such as .22 rifles anytime and shotguns and .223 on Saturday nights. Anyone under 21 can shoot handguns if they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Can't sell handgun ammunition to anyone under 21 anyway, but their insurance regulations won't let anyone under 21 fire a handgun on the range unless they have a parent or legal guardian with them.

Wives/husbands don't count either.

I wished someone would sit down and figure out this grey area between 18 and 21. The laws are odd. :(

TOP Notch! My wife and I signed up earlier this month. Really nice place. One of the nicest I have seen. If you are active duty they waive the 400.

. . . Dammit! I'm going to Parris Island this May, but I'll be 4th MarDiv (Reserves) !

Maybe I can at least talk to them when I get back . . .

Me and my 7 year old son went up there Saturday night and had a blast, we shot a .22 rifle, we shot my Colt Frontier Scout .22lr single action, and we shot my XD. My son preferred the Colt, I had him loading, shooting and unloading all by himself half way through, (he also has taken the youth class from RangeUSA) We only stopped because of time. He also shot my XD40....well he held on to it and pull the trigger, I kept control of it..:).

On a side note, that little dude would shoot, then take an extra shot after the last one, not knowing, and wouldn't flinch, move, fart anything, dead still...I was so jealous!!

So anyway, yep weird insurance/law stuff on the non parent/legal guardian thing.
