Do you have to have a permit to carry one of these? What about carrying in the vehicle?

You have to be certified by a recongnized authority. PPCT is such a group. If you take and pass the class you will get a card in the mail (sometime before I have great-grandkids I hope). Phantom is supposedly (until I see such card it is merely an urban legend) putting the applicable T.C.A. on the back of the card to aid any confused officers in locating the correct statute. The card is all you need.

Yes you need a permit to carry a baton. The PPCT/EB class this thread is in reference to meets the requirements to get a permit.

Grimel is right...there really is no Permit to carry a baton. Simply a defense in the law that says if you have had the proper training you can carry one.

I have one of these that I bought a few years ago sitting in my junkbox. I never carried it with me but thought about leaving it in my truck. I didn't think it would be any different than a "tire checker" or axe handle.
