Hey I just heard today that just recently this month TN changed the no carrying a handgun in a place that sells alcohol for consumption. Has anyone else heard this and is it true? thanks for your time. . .

No that is not correct. You still cannot carry in an establishment that sells alcohol for on site consumption. You can carry in an establishment that sells alcohol for off site consumption.

If and that is a BIG if, the law is ever changed it will not be anytime soon. Late summer maybe by the time it goes through committee and then maybe makes it onto the floor for a vote. Then it has to go to the other legislative branch. Provided it gets through there then the Governer has to sign it.

Not happening anytime soon.

The legislature is in recess until February.

Laws just don't all of sudden go into effect. 99.9% of laws passed in TN go into effect on July 1 of the year they are passed a very few on January 1 of the next year. Hardly any go into effect the moment they are signed.

It is amazing how many times I have heard someone say they have heard a law just passed when the legislature has already reaccessed for the year sometimes.

Ready for this law to change as well. I'm a waiter in a restaurant that closes at 1am and is not in a very hospitable area/

I would present this question to your local District Attorney. But the sprit of the law is not to keep you from carrying when you leave work, and the letter of the law is not clear as to employees.
