This is Mike Leach, Washington State head football coach being asked a question by someone getting married. The response is classic.

 

I actually think he could be a good candidate for UT. Not because is this, but it does show his clear ability to reason :-).

I was fortunate. My wife was just fine with me staying out of the way. I told her that my job was to show up, and I did.

With respect to being a male wedding participant (really at any level):

  1. Walk a fine line between appearing disinterested and actually expressing an opinion.
  2. Ask leading questions until you think you know what they want hear (this also makes you appear interested).
  3. Remember that just because something was decided today doesn't mean it can't change tomorrow (and the next day, etc.)
  4. Try not to take any of it personally.

We were married about 10 years before I felt reasonably safe in saying any of this in front of my lovely wife.
