For once the ATF has made me happy by posting IN RED that......

"...... Firearms automatically attain curio or relic (C&R) status when they are 50 years old. Any firearm that is at least 50 years old, and in its original configuration, would qualify as a C&R firearm. It is not necessary for such firearms to be listed in ATF’s C&R list....."

The "list" is meant for "curio" firearms less than 50 years old - - - An example would be Pre 64 Winchesters.

Anything 50 years or older (other than NFA arms) is a "relic" and can be had with a C&R FFL.

So the next time a dealer tells you that a firearm has to be on the "list" point them to the RED statement on the ATF website.

Were it that simple. Tell it to, oh, Guns of Yesteryear in Tunnel Hill, GA and see how far you get.
