The dude was what? 65....70 years old? He was evidently financially successful. No mention of prior run-ins with the law. This doesn't exactly fit the profile of a nut. If so, it took a looooooooooong time for him to suddenly snap.

I'm not proposing some massive coverup of a grand conspiracy. What we've been told simply does not compute; at least not to me.

Since when does crazy "Compute"?

Does that not go hand in hand?

Of course, that is exactly why we have conspiracy theories. Notice the term, theories. Not facts or proven, just theories. In the end it comes down to believe what you will. It can be discussed forever but never will it be proven either way. Thus why they stay theories, they cannot be proven one way or the other.

Of course it could have been Hillary doing something to distract everyone from the upcoming indictments but she missed the timing of Mueller. Or it could have been Trump trying the same.

Or even more out there it was both acting together to keep us distracted while they take over the entire world.

Maybe they will release the files in 50 years and we can find out then that there are just more questions rather than answers.

Either way I think I will go reload some ammo just in case because well, you never know. :)

O.k. So I'm a nut. I can live with that.

Again, all I'm saying is that the guy doesn't fit the profile of a mass murderer.

I do not fit the profile of a Suave, debonair, romantic, and handsome young man anymore but I like to think I still am. Does that make me a nut?

For the record my wife says yes it does and no I am none of those things anymore. Except romantic. Since I give her flowers weekly.

She gets flowers weekly because once a week I have to go to the lab and it is next to the cemetery. Shhh!

Finally some information released, although it honestly isn't very much more than has been pieced together.

Still no motive, autopsy says suicide but is vague on other details, on-going investigation because of child porn (which his brother was picked up on the week after the shooting).

Preliminary Report: https://www.lvmpd.com/en-us/Documents/1_October_FIT_Report_01-18-2018_Footnoted.pdf

Posted (edited)

I just read that preliminary report completely. That is the most detailed, descriptive report that has ever been made public in a mass shooting (That I have seen).  Good for the LVMPD.

All weapons are documented, along with other materials at the scene. (Along with photos).

How the shooter killed himself is documented.

Only two questions remain unanswered, why, and how can this be prevented.

My belief about “why” is that he was just evil. He was obviously depressed and suicidal. He wanted to die and wanted to take out a bunch of people when he went.

Could this have been prevented? I don’t think this could have reasonably been prevented. All the arm chair quarterbacking and ‘what if” scenarios do not change the fact like it said it that report; he had not committed a crime until he fired the first shot.

Had the hotel detected him taking all those guns up; they could have notified the cops, but he had committed no crime.

This obviously evil person that wanted to kill a bunch of people had a pilot’s license. Think about that.

I have not read the report, but as a general statement: you can not stop everyone that wants to do this kind of thing. I have argued it many times with people. Unless you limit it to the point that you collect all urine, bat guano, fertilizer or silly things like that, you still leave people that are determined enough materials to build destructive devices. No one thinks anything if you buy a hacksaw, steel pipe, pipe caps, Teflon tape, and a drill at Lowe's. Or like the Unabomber, just use scrap pipe and such. These could be made into pipe bombs or jerryrigged guns. Take a look at some other countries. They make guns out of anything. I saw an industrial stapler turned into a one shot pistol.

This guy could have crashed a small plane full of homemade explosives instead of shooting. Or driven a truck into the crowd. People are lucky he did not.

So all the people out there screaming for gun restrictions refuse to admit in the overall, it will make little positive difference even if these people can't get guns. We all know truthfully that they will just buy them illegally or steal them anyway.

It was pretty detailed, but still leaves a bunch of questions. The emails that were noted regarding stuff to try out seems like some sort of sell or a sting, half of the rifles without sights of any sort, how many of the total rifles were fired, how many rifles in each room fired.....

This was preliminary so hopefully more info comes to light. For the conspiracy theorists, the autopsy notes in this report did not have much info at all, including gunshot residue (although we know he wore gloves, should still be GSR on his person with over 1k rounds fired).

For as much information as the report contained, it still lacks a lot. No matter what the report said, even with irrefutable evidence, not everyone would be satisfied though.

MGM is the deep pockets and the only one with enough money for the low life attorney’s taking these cases to go after.

MGM and their employees will be the 2nd round of victims in this case.

I don’t mean to imply that the living victims and the families of the deceased didn’t experience a horrific attack. But MGM didn’t cause it and shouldn’t have to defend themselves and try to protect their employees simply because some attorney’s want a payday. I hope MGM has the resources to financially destroy the attorney’s that are attempting this sham.

Police mention the note, but not specifically what was on it:

It is my understanding that he was only firing for about 10 minutes. It was a good bit before responders arrived on scene. I wonder...purely hypothetical, if he had planned on shooting a bit and then disappear whenever he could, if he could. However, what he did not account for was the fire alarm going off from the smoke. The alarm may have caused him to panic and as such derailed any plans he had.

The appearence of the security guard could have also altered his escape plans not knowing if there was more of them and were they armed........Just a thought!!
