Fresh From Out West

Hello, my name is Toby. My family and I just moved to Hickman County from Nevada. I am a former peace officer from Oklahoma, medically retired. Love to shoot, but haven't found a spot near me to send a few down range yet. I've always carried a Glock, so I am a pretty die hard Glock guy, I'm even a Glock Armorer. Looking forward to getting to know you all and talking shop.

Welcome. So I'm curious...what was the motivation to move to TN?

Sorry about the slow response, I'm usually on top of it better. My wife has had me doing little renovation jobs on our house ever since we stepped foot in the door and I have not had much time to peruse the interwebs.

We wanted some acreage and we couldn't afford west coast prices for that acreage. My aunt moved to Franklin from Huntington Beach, CA and absolutely loves it. I took that as a good sign, so we started looking around at what we could afford and then flew out in February; we fell in love with Tennessee. I was back out in April and fell in love with Tennessee again; I heard it was going to get green, but that is an understatement.

Hickman County reminds me of Southwestern Oklahoma, so that's comfortable for me. It's been funny watching my kids talk to people with thick southern drawls, they've never heard it before and it's entertaining.

Welcome to Tennessee!! I would guess your kids are finding the drawls of the southern kids different but they will learn to translate what the southerners are saying pretty quick. Loving Tennessee is not hard to do if your looking for a great place to call home...........

Welcome to a great state. We moved here 3 years ago and consider it the best move we could have made. Like Charley Daniels says, " I wasn't born in TN but I got here as soon as I could" !

Welcome and as with all folks new to the state, we love it here just the way it is. No changes needed or wanted. Except a few Yankees can head north anytime.

Seriously, welcome and get out and enjoy all our great state has to offer.

Indeed, welcome! As a transplant myself, it's a great place to call home. My kids have done well in the schools here, and made the adjustment well.
