They actually had a few pistols stolen out from under them last year. Don't bring it up though, it seems theyre pretty touchy about it

Yeah - as inattentative as they are to their customers, I certainly see how someone could just "grab-n-go". (Judging from my experiences with both the Memphis and Southaven stores, >10 years ago, maybe they've changed but I doubt it) Hell, they usually ignore even the ones who have their wallet in hand. I cannot think of a worse case of bad customer service than that from Guns and Ammo. They deservedly received their nickname(Guns & A######s).

When I lived in memphis I was a happy customer ther for several years. Just spend some time there and you will see a lot of what they have to deal with. You can be ther on any given day and see someone come in and ask fot the latest TV gun. Or ask to buy a James Bond gun. I have seen them ask some of the "young locals" to leave because you could smell marijuana smoke on them. So yes some of the guys come off as pricks. But after I got on a first name basis with them, I got much better service. Richard is a very knowledgeable AR person. And I loved going there on Tuesday morning. Because after lowballing tradeins they would pass them along to customers. And they do alot of high volume sales, wich means low prices.

Back when I was in Memphis, I went to G&A all the time. Most of the time just to look and fondle, but I have bought several guns from them. I have never had a bad experience with them, but I have seen them be somewhat rude to some people. They have always been courteous to me. Granted, I have not been there in about 1 1/2 years.

I have not been to a gun dealer in west and middle TN that matches the selection of guns that G&A has. If I am in Memphis, I always make it a point to go there and look around.

I've bought a couple of things at G&A in the last 6 months. I've learned that if the parking lot is full I usually don't even stop. And unfortunately it's that way most of the time these days. As other folks have said, the older fellow behind the revolver counter is always friendly, pleasant and helpful. And a couple of the folks on the main side are ok once you've been in there enough times that they "kind of" recognize your face. I usually start the conversation by reminding them of the last thing I purchased. But there are still a couple of guys that I just avoid. They're always obnoxious and unfriendly. Unfortunately they still have absolutely the best selection of any gun shop in this area. I go there to look, handle, and check prices, but if I can find it at Classic Arms, Range USA, or Brighton Arms, at a reasonable price I'll buy it there instead. If you live in north Shelby County or in Tipton County, 51 Pawn Shop in Atoka has a decent selection. And Dan and Micah in there are real helpful.

G&A has a great selection, ****ty customer service and inflated prices IMO. I have bought one gun from them years ago (Ruger .45) when they were one of the only gun shops in Memphis (or maybe I was too stupid to look for another source, cant remember). Last time I was in there about two weeks ago I paid $24.00 each for two 30 round Magpul Pmags and $9.00 each for two 20 round boxes of Wolf .223. As far as trade-ins, forget it. A buddy of mine bought a brand new Glock 22 .40 from them for $550, had it for a week and decided he needed a compact - took it back up there with ONE magazine fired through it and they offered him $150 in trade-in value.

I prefer to do my business with Range USA - they are the best in Memphis hands down, and the cheapest whether its buying guns, selling on consignment or NFA transfers.

Guns and A$$hls! Nuff said.

I usually go in there to see what I want then buy it somewhere else.

Amen to that. Do your looking at G&A and buy (order) at Range USA. Cheaper prices. Don't let that "pay cash/debit card and they waive the tax" thing fool you. Even with that deduction they are still higher. Plus the people at Range USA are the best. I'd rather give them my money.
