TOTAL ECLIPSE PATH FOR TENNESSEE

Perfect weather in Brentwood.  It was a lot cooler than I was expecting.  We are up on a hill and you could see all the night time photoelectric lights turn on.  The bugs also started making a lot of noise right at totality.

Street and security lights came on and the frogs started making their noises as well as crickets.xD about 10-15 minutes before totality I got pictures of the sun filtered through the trees on to the ground and you can plainly see it acted like a pin hole and projected all these crescent  shapes on the lawn.

Very cool. No street lights around us but we did see stars and planets. And the local frogs and crickets also woke up and asked what the heck is going on.  Got some pictures but through our spotting scope with a cell phone so not great.

That was one of the most, if not the most, amazing things I've ever seen.

Everything  they said about totality was true.  Beyond fantastic.

Th cicadas got all confused and started raising hell.  Wasn't thinking about that happening but it did.

and this is my phone's interpretation of what it saw...

That's much better than my iPhone 6 could manage, even holding some magic glasses over the lens.

I hope that spot in the middle isn't a fried sensor...

LOL...nope. Still working fine.

The shadow pics were after the eclipse by a minute or two.

ETA....checked the phone and it still works :)

I waited until the darkness was maxed then shot it. I was surprised at what it saw.. I didn't look up, just tilted the phone that direction.

Arrgh! My house is too far south for totality so we drove up to the speedway. A number of clouds but at ~1:25 a large dark cloud rolled in and we missed it. It did get dead quiet except for the crickets and birds. It felt like 5:00 in the morning. Within 5 minutes the could moved on, of course.

Wow. That was exceedingly cool.

I made a pin hole viewer...

I'm assuming you laid out of work? The cut off for totality was right around Pellissippi Parkway. The pictures and video don't do it justice. I hope to catch the next one in 2024!

That was awesome! I loved the 360 deg sunset/rise. My son put out a sheet, and we could see the shadow bands.

We got this pic from Cleveland with my DSLR right at totality.

My wife wouldn't shut up about the paper glasses, so I also fashioned myself a tinfoil hat for the festivities. Bullfrogs began croaking in the pond off in the hollow beside my house, and we saw a couple of bats fly over. This was very different from anything I've seen. I'm glad I got to see it.

I'm a grown man, I didn't "lay off" work.  I took vacation after my dentist appointment this morning.  ;)

Went to a friend's place in Farragut so caught maybe 1:30 of totality and didn't have to deal with any traffic.

As I stated earlier, I intended to sit in my back yard and watch it. I'd been watching the sun's path and knew that if not too cloudy, I'd have a good viewing.

It was. Though it was at times cloudy, which actually helped me see the progression, I had a good spot.

I watched the slow darkening, and the colors of the clouds and on the ground. I got a great view and was totally surprised when the outside yard lights came on. I just was so enthralled it all came on so quickly.

I had chills as I was watching. It was a gift from God to see what He created and how intricately, and beautifully it all came together. I said a thankful prayer for such beauty.
