What, I really  don't understand why the TSA employees who are federal employees informed the NYC police.  If no federal laws are broken....why cause problems????

Without watching the video it's because they broke a law in that jurisdiction.

Same thing would happen in any airport in this country.  The locals are called and you're carted off if the situation requires.

Thye probably get kick backs from the City for calling them because the TSA is in fact a Federal Security Agency and can make the decision with out contacting anyone. But then of Course "IT IS NEW YORK" we are talking about..............jmho

I guess Stossel didn't check the law..after further reading a magazine even empty can not be in carry on baggage....It must be in checked baggage locked up just like an empty firearm...and I found this.....

If a passenger brings a firearm to the TSA security checkpoint, the traveler can be cited by law enforcement on a local or state charge. TSA will also levy a civil penalty against the passenger. The recommended civil penalty range is between $3,000 and $7,500. TSA evaluates each incident on a case-by-case basis....

From my reading  traveling with an empty firearm or a empty magazine is the same.

Still stupid..

There are some cities and states where I have made it a policy to never travel to.  There is nothing in NYC that would cause me to travel there.

I lived in NYC for 10 years and NYS for 30 years...

I quit my job, sold my home and moved after SAFE became law....    ....one time upon returning from a hunt, a thief was walking off with my double shotgun he picked up from the secure bag claim area at Kennedy Airport....

Pistols in NY have always been very evil tools reserved for cops, judges and their friends...  ..you cannot touch a pistol in a retail store by law unless you have a valid handgun permit...

...in Westchester NY you must have a trigger lock on all guns each time you leave your home...
