Garand Question

Recommended Posts

Posted

How would you all value a Garand build with a 50s H&R receiver, CMP stock, Criterion barrel, and GI internals?

I am looking at one, considering trading for it, and trying to figure out how something like this might compare to a CMP service grade example.

I am not looking for an exact price. Just some guidance on how it might compare with a Service Grade M1 assuming both are in similar shape. Lower? Higher? About the same?

Thanks!

Depends on who is looking at it. A collector won’t want a refurb, a shooter will.

Right now CMP has refurbs (“special grade”) at $830 and $1030.

That would be what CMP calls the Special Grade. They have some exactly as you describe in stock now. The price is $830

These days its hard to find one with original parts, even a mixmaster, for less than $1000.

Thanks everyone! And yes, it is hard to find one PERIOD, listed at less than $1000 other than via CMP.

$1000 is very common these days.

Yes indeed. Originally I was thinking of trying to trade a couple items from my Finn collection for one of these but it seems like there really isn't much interest in crossing genres like this either. And I guess that is not surprising as I don't generally even consider adding non Finns myself.
