To conform to German export regulations, certain design changes made in the MR556 prevents the rifle’s upper receiver from being used on other AR-style firearms.
I REALLY don't like this part, but I can't wait to see one of those in person! It's kinda like :) meets :D

Erg... HK why must you hate me!@!!!!@$@$G

I must suck...

Because HK thinks you suck... and they hate you.

So apparently its illegal to ship anything out of Germany that will work with anything else in prior existence.

I was disappointed on the non-interchangeable upper as well...

I wonder what the price point for a complete rifle is? Knowing H&K, they'll probably make the price of the LWRC look pretty attractive...

Am I the only one who thinks the buttstock is kinda fugly?

Your kinda fugly poak. :-P

I kid... actually i have no idea. haha

I have a feeling this will probably be competition for the 'Masada'... price point i'm sure will be somewhat lateral.

It's not a 416, but Franklin Gun Shop actually HAD a SCAR in hand very recently. It sold in 4 hours for around 4K.

I'd bet the 416 will be close to that...if not a but more due to the HK name on yet another piston AR.

They could make the uppers here if they wanted to. I suspect they just don't want to have their precious uppers riding on anything less than an HK Lower.

I like HK products. But you do pay more. A real balancing act when looking at their stuff. A Hk416 would be great... would love to have one, but I don't have near the money for one.

I like the buttstock, it's the rest of the gun I wonder about... They couldn't get the army to bite as they couldn't substantiate the design as an improvement over the M4 (rightfully so). Guess they have to recoup their R&D money somehow...

I pretty much lost all respect for the HK firm when they decided US civilian sales were beneath them. I admit, it may have been in response to their 3 best selling civilian rifles being listed by name on the AWB.

No one has proved to me yet the advantage of this system over the current gas impingement system.

I'll pass. On all piston AR uppers. The old style works just fine for me.

I have limited experience with one rifle, but I've probably put 50k rounds through everything from a 1964 sp1, an spII, Armalite ar15(t), Colt NM, and half a dozen custom builds and in all that time I've had one failure. My brother carried an M4 in harms way for 8 years. My son carried one in harms way through 2 tours of Iraq. The response I get when posing the question is "take care of it, it takes care of business".

My one failure with the gun points to defective ammo.

Gas piston doesnt make sense on the civilian market... military perhaps... maybe.

Just clean the darn thing and it'll stay happy.

folding bayonets don't make sense in the civilian market, but they are fun to have :):)

Ok, so I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack, but what is the big deal about having a H&K upper not fit any other AR lower? It doesn't convert the rifle to full auto or anything does it?

Nah, it's just H&K's way of trying to convince everyone that they are better than everyone else and that their  don't stink.

The quality is there in everything I've ever seen from H&K, but they aren't as good as they think they are. They are the snobs of the tacticool gun world. There are american companies as good or better, with a much better attitude.

Dont know of any American gun companies that are better without dwelling into the custom world... but yeah. HK thinks we suck.

Gcrookston: Your right. There isnt a need for it. Its more or less just something to say you have. Just like a side folding bayo.

Gcrookston: Your right... 1300 Dollar AK. :D

I think they would be very cool bragging rights. Anyone that wants one should run out and get one. I just don't want one.

I want to spend my money elsewhere... Say, on another $1,300 AK...

Or another stupid $1300 AR
