Please don't go hunting. Hunting hurts, harms, kills and distresses beings. It also can orphan young animals.
I know I may sound like what some call a "PETA nuthead" here, but I really, really dissaprove of unnecessary hunting. Hunting when it is necessary in order to survive, I can (sort of) tolerate, but hunting for sport or even just because you fancy some caribou I can't tolerate.
I am (almost) vegan, but I have friends and family who eat meat. I still love them. I still disagree with unnecessary hunting.
Animals have feelings, too. How else would ou explain why an animal yelps or cries when hurt? How else would you explain the behaviour of a dog who runs up, wagging his/her tail, and bounding around when their person comes home?
Why don't you look for another hobby that doesn't involve hurting, harming, killing or distressing any being?
Best of luck.

People Eating Tasty Animals (PETA) :)

Seriously, hunters are the biggest conservationists there are. I hunt AND love animals. I wouldn't kill an animal and leave it lay though. Without any real natural predators, just imagine how many deer there'd be running the streets of Nashville without "unnecessary" hunting. :panic:

In an effort to stay on topic... @Volphin Canadian goose season opens Oct 14.

Yea, I understand your feelings, I don't agree, but understand.  But the thing is, without the special tax on hunters and outdoorsmen  (Pittman-Robertson Act) many conservation projects would suffer.

And lots of hunting seasons are set up to prevent young animals from being orphaned.

If it were not for the fact that there is hunting seasons no one would be able to have a garden and farmers would not be able to grow crops for livestock of humans. I know back until Illinois extended their deer hunting and enlarged the quota's or bag limits the farmers in the lower half of the state were losing up to 25% of their crops to deer. Farmers look forward to allowing hunters to come and hunt there farms in southern Illinois. The deer population in Tennessee has gotten a lot bigger over last 10 years due to the fact there are not as many hunters as there was say 15 years ago. I know ne of the reasons is finding farmers that will allow hunters on their property or farmers want to charge hunters to lease their land to hunt and that is one of the reasons there are less hunters. If the deer herds continue to grow in Tennessee pretty soon the farmers will be payng the hunters to come and help control the deer on their property or they will begin losing crops.................jmho
