If you're near my age..that's when a nickel was big money for our families. So getting one was a big deal!

79 here, and it was a big deal. Rare treat.  A nickel was a lot of money back then. I didn't have one, Pa had few.

Yep; I remember trading "Coke bottles - EVERYTHING was called a 'Coke bottle' no matter what came in it" for 3 cents a bottle

Good times but poor as hell!

I'm either older or from a more depressed area, I only got 2 cents for pop bottles and $1/yard. When I got big enough I bailed hay for a $1/hour and a great farmers wife lunch.
