Shielding/Herding others while shooting

I was wondering if there are any resources or classes available on how to protect others while shooting. I have no issue protecting myself, moving and shooting, using cover, etc. I have not had any training on what to do with another person that I will not leave on their own like my 6 year old daughter. I'd like to figure out how to shield her while shooting and be able to move her in the direction I want while being able to keep my eyes on the threat.

I think the possible scenarios are so broad and infinite you probably won't find a specific class.  The option would be to take some VIP personal protection classes.  Best info for your situation, in general, is anticipate and leave.  Avoidance is your key to safety especially with family in tow.  Once bullets fly there are no guarantees no matter how well trained anyone is.

I think about that too. My assumption is it's gun in strong hand and child by weak hand trying to keep them behind me while trying to escape. Practice with simple commands like "down", "cover", and "run".   I'd presume you're basically gonna be dragging a child to keep them moving and on their feet.

While I've never trained with Melody Lauer or John Johnston (Ballistic Radio), they do offer a class along the lines that you're asking about.

They have a training organization called Citizen's Defense Research and the name of the class is Contextual Handgun: The Armed Parent/Guardian.

The reviews and AAR's seem pretty positive.

Hope this is of some use to you.
