AR itch (again)

Otay chid-rins, I have the itch to buy/build another AR. Thought I'd get some opinions here first.

Trying to decide which brand to go with, that's really what it boils down to. We have built some PSA rifles at home, and I have zero issues with them. But I've had a hankering for one of the other brands such as Colt, Spikes, DD, BCM, etc.

What's a good honest high quality value out there nowadays?

For me, it's Noveske or BCM. I don't care for Spikes for various reasons and Colt branding doesn't mean what it used to imo

Currently I think one of the best values is going to be LWRCI's new DI rifle. I've seen them for 1099. For that price you're getting a upper tier rifle for around mid tier pricing.  BCM and Daniel Defense also put out a very good product at a reasonable price.  Depending on who you talk to, Colt's quality control has gone downhill recently.

What is your budget?

I used to own a Spikes as well. Had no issues, but I'm curious about the particulars as to why you don't care for them.

To answer the other question, I really haven't decided on budget yet. Can't get too ridiculous though.

I'd probably be happy with putting high quality parts together too. I've heard good things about Aero as a base.

If building: Mega makes the best forged lowers, also they have matching engraved, forged uppers that add a touch of continuity to a build.

Budget and personal preference  decides the rest.

I have this urge every now and then myself... I just take a little nap and it passes... HEHEHE...

Got on the phone with my gunsmith and decided on doing a build with quality parts. Posting a WTB ad now for an upper/lower set.

My last 2 have been Spikes and BCM

Anderson and Aero Precision ...

that being said, both have been BCM BCG, BCM gas system, BCM barrel...

I prefer BCM parts, they work

Yep. BCM makes my favorite Keymod handguard. I have bought 3 of them so far. You can't go wrong with anything they make, including complete rifles.

It's almost a given that anything BCM will be pleasing and durable. Ditto with DD. If you're looking to make the leap to a higher echelon of AR's, those two are where to be.

For building I've switched to Aero Precision. For buying I have a LWRC that is a really, really well made rifle.

that new DI in blue is calling me.

PSA upper with a Colt lower is a good combination. I like the 20 inch 1-7 CHF CL. You will save enough buying PSA to buy a trigger. Sometimes spending more is better and sometimes not. Its kind of like factory ammo

I just built up a couple of Aero stripped lowers. I like them, especially the screw for tightening the upper/lower slop. Good stuff in my limited experience

With what I have run, Aeros are very good for the price you'll pay. Excellent parts and quality machining! The Barrel and BCG are the real expenditures. I went with a 18" Faxon .223 Wylde Gunner barrel on my Wife's rifle, and a 18" Ballistic Advantage (Aero) for mine. I run Sharps Rifle Co. BCGs, I think they are among the best, if not the best on the market. I know that was rather long winded, but yes, very good stuff! :-)
