bwahahaha!   That video is awesome.  Guy takes a load of birdshot in his shoulder "that's when I went into the cabinet behind my coffee and grabbed an old timey pistol and smoked 'em"

This also goes to prove the opposite thing though. Don't have your home defense shotgun loaded with birdshot or you might end up being the guy who gets shot. This could have been very different if the thugs had had 00 buck. I know a bunch of people that claim birdshot will be just fine.

My HD shotgun has 15 pellet 00 Buck.

I found myself wondering why he wasn't armed when he answered the door. Anyway,

At the present time my HD shotgun is loaded with 3 inch magnum BB rounds. There is about 300 steel BBs in each round. I took it out to test the pattern at 15 feet and blew a hole about a foot around and had about 50 or so holes around the main hole in a 4x8 piece of plywood. Also shot another round at a old wooden door son in law had and it was about the same effect at about 10 feet.

A one foot hole at 15 feet? I have never seen or heard of a 3 inch mag doing anything remotely like that. To even have a 1 foot pellet spread like that at 15 feet seems incredible, let alone a foot-wide hole.
