How's your drinking water?

After the big TVA ash spill, hows your water? Anybody have any problems? Is it a real disaster, or a media made non-event? I'd like to know before it gets all the way down to Chattanooga.

Last time I heard, its nothing serious and all tests are still showing low levels which means water is safe

The wbir.com website says that fish are showing gill damage within a mile from the spill. They'll probably die soon. As far as drinking water is concerned, I'm not worried about it. I have a well about 5 miles away from the spill site. The water is fine where I'm at. I have family that live a little upstream from the spill, and they have seen the muck floating on the water around their house. They have city water, and they're still using it like they were before. I think TVA is handling the job as well as they possibly can, and the whole Erin Brokovich thing is a joke.

the whole Erin Brokovich thing is a joke.

The thing that pisses me off is, Who is going to pay for the clean up and the lawsuits. Not the TVA. The clean up is understandable ( bad design, bad management, heads in their a$$). But the multimillion dollar lawsuits piss me off.

I seen 4 homeowners had a 160 million dollar lawsuit (just how much is their land worth). I can see a little money for the disruption of their family and lives , And may be the TVA buy their property.

And thats just 4 I cant wait to see the rest everybody will be trying to get more than the one before them.:wave:

I will have to sell my house to pay the electric bill!

OK rant over

Agreed with that statement. I think TVA has done a TREMENDOUS job with the clean up efforts and helping other displaced families into nice rental homes.

Erin Brokovich is a joke big time and just a hassle of a big burden on us and TVA.

I don't drink tap water but I'm sure its fine. But, I live in Oak Ridge so a little fly ash is probably one of the safer things in our water....
