That's crazy...and so American (making something outlandishly huge, just because.) People around the world always amaze with their quirks.

I thought the same thing when I ran across the picture and wanted to know the rest of the story.

I was always in awe of the early Americans, made a place of there own, broke land, and still had time to make babes. They were a hardy bunch.

Brave and terrified heros. I’m assuming this was D-day

Likely so. They're wearing layers so it's not the Pacific, or the Med during summer.  Anzio was assaulted in January 1944 so it could have been that one.

Early in WWII.  Half with 1903s and half with Garands.  Not a Higgins boat, and one guy on the left has a M1917 helmet.  Probably a training exercise.

Going for a tiple bypass later this week so that will take me out of commission for a few days then lots of time to not do much more that surf the web.

Jeb48 praying for a speedy recovery. I had the same operation 11 years ago. Worst part for me was where they strip the veins out of your legs. Couldn’t stand for anything to touch it. Don’t worry you got this.

Dad had triple bypass 15 years ago and a friend had it 2 months ago. Recovery is a process but I bet you'll be surprised at how much better you feel once you're healed up. Hope it goes well.
