Looked at this picture a bunch of times before I noticed the two squirrels hanging from the window above the hunter. Looks like they are jumping on him.

One of my favorite TV guns. Keep trying to convince myself I need one but seems very impractical.

Is that Steve McQueen? Whoever it is, it;s kind of a strange picture with the gun, gun belt, and spurs with a race car.

Yep Steve McQueen dressed for Wanted Dead or Alive show. He was also into racing so he may have been taking a break from the set.

Is the right side gun a Browning? The left one looks almost lever action.

Browning was one option back then but J.C Higgins also had a hump back version back then also and as for the Lever Gun it was probably a Winchester model 1887 ............just guessing but both of these guns were available back then also..............JMHO

Another successful hunt. From the looks of the tires he had that car off road. Looks like maybe chains on the back tire.

Something a man never wants to see from this angle. What is all the other stuff set up around them?

The box on our left is a shooters box. You can see a pistol still in the box and a spoting scope mounted on the lid.

Really common stuff used by competitive pistol shooters.

By the way the ladies have the sights lined up on their dominant eye I think it would be safe to assume all them were quite proficient im

at the sport in their day.

Gramps out for a day of shooting with his grandson.

I am guessing the family pup is on the end of chain from the bumper.

Looks like a fun day.

I was wondering the same thing about the chain.  Looks like the little tike has a classic Red Ryder,  Not sure what gramps has but I like it.

Any chance that is sporterized Nagant? The bolt looks like the round style it uses. But the cheekpad doesn't. No idea of time frame for this though.

Most likely it is a single-shot .22 rifle.  There were a zillion of them made back then by several manufacturers with round cocking pieces like that.
