Glock 21 or 41 for competition

Hey guys,

I'm debating getting a cdp gun for idpa, and am looking at the glock 41 or 21. Any thoughts from someone with cdp experience? I could go the 1911 route but I've got so much glock experience it would be an easy transition (and cheaper)

Either will suit you fine. Lots of guys that shoot with us shoot their 19/17 better than the 34...but with CDP you can go all out on magwell, trigger set, ect, so keep that in mind too for upping the weight to mitigate/flatten out the recoil

You gain sight radius with the 41, that's about all. The 41 has a slide that is the same width and thickness as the 36. That allows for no window cut in the top of the slide to lighten it. Theoretically it should cycle the same speed as the 21, but typically a long slide cycles slower than service sized one does.

Everything else is the same, id probably go with the 21 if you use a red dot or the 41 if you use irons.

Awesome thanks for the input guys. Yeah a 21 is shorter but heavier (gen 4).... might be worth a good look, especially since I'll have more room on it to add stuff and still fit in the idpa box.

Ya I should have mention my 21 is a 4th gen. That makes a huge difference with the grip. Big improvement over the gen3 unless you go with the SF.

I have owned both and while the longer sight radius on the 41 was helpful on longer shots the 21 had less muzzle flip.
