Sig 232?

So what's the story on the Sig 232? good, bad? My brother is about to get his HCP and has been offered a Sig 232 like new (never fired) for $400. From what I can tell the price is good, but what about the gun. Thanks.

Never fired one, but I have always heard good things about them. A friend carried one as a BUG for a few years. He liked it.

$400 is a good price for LNIB unfired.

The P232 is the one of the P Series I do not own, but have been wanting to get for some time. Maybe some day.

I have a P230. Don't know what the difference is, but for $400, I'd snap it up. Great pocket type gun.

P230 quite being made in 1996 and the P232 is an "upgraded" version. Better ergos, technology, etc.

My dad has one and loves it. Never had any feeding or ejecting problems. Can be a little snappy with full power loads but overall very manageable.

I carried a 230 for a number of years, bought my wife a 232 which she still carries. The differences are minute and they are excellent guns. $400, is a bargain.

I shot one with the stock grips on it and hated it. I really felt like it was beating up my hand. Probably why most people put Hogue grips on it.

Purchased CPO P232 early November. Very happy with it. Several hundred rounds through it with no problems. Have fired with both Hornady and Corbon JHP and no issues. Very accurate and easily concealed.

There is one particular issue that you need to look at on the used P232. Make sure the takedown lever is TIGHT!

I bought a used one for my wife just over a month ago. During her HCP class with Todd and Dustin, the P232 (in the words of Todd) incurred a "spontaneous disassembly." Basically, she fired the P232 and the slide and spring flew off of the gun. When I called Sig customer service, they had no idea.

The guy I bought it from took it back. I bought a new one and the takedown lever was significantly tighter than the first one. After more research on the P232, there have been several reports of this problem.

My wife loves the gun, but I'll have to keep checking on the takedown lever. It's a good shooter, handles very well, and is great for leftys (like my wife).

Sig makes a great gun most are very accurate, but they can be picky about the ammo. They don't like the cheap stuff.
