Arkansas College Carry Passed

I looked today and this NRA supported bill did pass the Arkansas House floor and is being sent to the governor to sign and become law.  The governor has supported this bill.  The bill will legalize public college carry in Arkansas with an enhanced license.  The bill also legalizes carry in the state Capitol and other state owned buildings.  A person with the enhanced license will also be able to carry at the college sporting events from what I've read.  Basically you take an extra training class and then receive an endorsement on your license.  From my understanding, the NRA worked with the legislators and governor to make this happen.

So that leaves Georgia and North Carolina as far as states that border Tennessee that college carry is not legal.  It will now be legal to carry on college campuses in the following states that border TN: Arkansas (fall 2017), Missouri, Kentucky, Virginia, Alabama, and Mississippi.

Where is the NRA in Tennessee as far as getting something like this through?  It is tough to get a decent bill when just Moms Demand Action reps show up to a bill hearing at the legislature and the NRA is not there to speak.

Tennessee's Governor does NOT support such bills.

The NRA is only interested in access to the Speakers, if you want bills to pass, you must have different legislators who will elect different Speakers who will stand up to the governor.  To do that you must turn out the incumbents.

Or elect a democratic governor, so the republican legislature can use 2nd amendment laws as a wedge issues.

You would never know the difference.

I disagree, Harwell would have a lot harder of a time holding back 2nd amendment laws that could be used to win political capital forcing the governor to veto the bill, and the legislature over riding the veto.

But you're right, getting rid of Harwell needs to be the goal, and depending on who gets elected as Governor the next time around she may well fall out of favor.

In Parks and Restaurants, she voted with the Democrat Governor to support his overrides on gun bills, she would do the same now, she is an anti-gun liberal who resided in a Democrat district.

She is simply Naifeh in a dress...

And the attack from the left begins

The USA Today Sports column begins:

A new gun rights measure signed yesterday could allow concealed weapons to be carried into Arkansas football and basketball games as early as 2018. Opposing teams should consider boycotting participating in these games should this become a reality in practice. Not due to any political motivation or stand against the law, but because there is a reasonable case to be made that this will put them in an unsafe position.

There going to amend and take Sporting events out,  Copied from a published article.

"A recently passed law that allows concealed weapons throughout the state, including at sporting events like college football games at Arkansas’ stadium, has been met with opposition. So much so that the state’s senate, which passed the law, has backed an exemption to be made for college sporting events.

That exemption has not been passed yet, leading the SEC to step in and share its opinion on the matter.

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said on Tuesday that he supports the senate’s exemption to HB1249 that would prevent firearms from being allowed inside publicly funded stadiums in the state of Arkansas. The amendment to the campus carry bill still has to go to the house and back to governor Asa Hutchinson to be ratified."

Considering how pro sports and the sports media is fairly anti gun, that does not surprise me.  Of course I guess the college carry situation is still better than what we have here considering that we flat out can't carry at any college unless we are faculty or staff.
