You're assuming that they never go up in price. They could pass constitutional carry or politics in Nashville could change and 5 years from now they might be $100 a year. I just eliminated the gamble. By the way Oh Shoot, I'm not taking any financial advice from you since I listened to you before and bet all my money on Hillary.

I've bet on a few hags but I'd never put money on Hillary.

By that time I wouldn't be leaving my house. :(

You say that now, but I feel sure you'll wander off at some point.

Lifetime for retired  LEOs, does anyone know anything about it?

Nothing in TN HCP law about that AFAIK. You may be thinking of federal LEOSA. Which always has sounded like quite the hassle with lots of rules and qualifying and whatnot to me.

Yep, most of the roadblocks I have seen retired Officers complain about were put there by the individual agencies they retired from…,ID’s, qualifications, etc. From what I read about it; the Feds did this half azz.

TCA 39-17-1351(x)(5) is the part of the law.  I find several other references but I am having a hard time tracking certain details down.  I know I qualify and would like to save a 100 bucks and get a LEO lifetime for 100 when my renewal time is here.  Here's an excerpt from the fee chart that also shows this:

Original

8 year $100.00
Military 8 year $68.00
Lifetime $300.00
Military Lifetime $268.00
Retired Law Enforcement Lifetime $100.00

Renewal

When you renew your permit, the new expiration date will be eight (8) years from the date the renewal permit was issued. Permits expire eight (8) years from the date of issuance.

8 year $50.00
Military $50.00
Upgrade to a Lifetime $200.00
Upgrade to a Lifetime Military $200.00
Retired Law Enforcement upgrade to a Lifetime $100.00

BTW, this is not the same as the LEOSA credential process.  But Tennessee discourages LEOSA carry by making the process more difficult than the law requires.
