I renewed mine back on the 11th of May. I got my new lifetime permit in the mail today...that was pretty quick. I thought I would have another week to go but that wasn't the case. :D

Got mine in 6 weeks. Probably still would not have it if I had not called them to inquire about it.

Went and applied for my renewal / lifetime permit at the Athens (McMinn Co.) DMV this morning.  Arrived at 9:05 am, had only 2 people ahead of me, and left at 9:25 am.  Lady said it was an unusually slow day so far today, but was standing room only all day last Friday.  Now to wait and see how long it takes!

I plan to get the lifetime as soon as I can get home long enough to do it. At 21 I think makes sense for anyway. I don't think it will hurt me in anyway at least.

I'll be 69 when it's time to renew.  If I need to renew it a few more times I'll be glad to spend the money.

I decided to go ahead and renew with the lifetime permit. And I didn't have to wait what seemed like forever when I first applied for my hcp back in 2009. The lifetime permit renewal came in the mail in about a week.

Not quite true. On my renewal this year the letter stated I had to go to the DMV for a new picture.

I'd imagine it's because of the old picture being 4 years old, using it would mean a 12 year old picture the NEXT time renewal came up.

I had just renewed my driver's license with a new picture 2 weeks before I renewed my permit, so they were able to use THAT instead of renewing in person.

But I renewed the permit 4 months early online, and didn't wait for the renewal to come In the mail.

So my HCP expires Jan/2019.  Can I apply for a lifetime now or do I have to wait until it is closer to renewal time?  I tried online but it doesnt give me an option to renew.

Just did the lifetime last week, as I turn 50 this year I know I could have saved money and the Lebanon office is convenient and quick for me, I looked at it as a bargain saved $300 off the initial price and the last time I will have to go back,

they do take a new photo the only reason it cannot be done online

Unfortunately, no ROI for me.

But just think, when you're old and drooling and still want to carry all you'll have to do is occasionally show up and smile and nod for a picture...

By that time I wouldn't be leaving my house. :(
