A new best friend

So yesterday I found this little fella stuck in the median, he was trying to get off the road but was scared to move because of all the cars zipping by. As soon as I seen him I pulled over and he was able to get off the road. I called to him and he cautiously walked up to me then acted like we were old best friends.

I was going to find him a home but as I proofread the advertisement I realized how much of a good boy he really is and by that time he has already weaseled his way into our hearts. I have spent most of my life with "bulldogs" and they tend to be harder to work with but this guy is absolutely amazing in how quickly he is learning. He is the complete opposite of every bulldog puppy I have ever had. Even for being only six months he is extremely well mannered. Spent all night in a crate without so much as a peep all night. Loves praise and is already trying to please us. He listens well for a puppy, all you have to do is tell him "no" once and he stops immediately. Then he comes and sits at our feet waiting for his praise. After 20+ years of bulldogs this dog seems like the Albert Einstein of the canine world.

It is hard for us to believe he was not someone else's dog so we have put the word out hoping to find the owners. If we can't find his family then this little guy has hit the doggy lottery.

We keep telling ourselves that we are just going to "foster" him until we find him a permanent home but in reality that has probably already happened even though we won't admit it yet.

His name is probably going to be Sam.

Who's a good boy? Sounds like you have a new addition to the family.

Glad you found such a trainable puppy.  Mine is the most hard-headed thing in the world.  He understands NO, but chooses to ignore it.  Wish you well with your new best buddy!

Thank you for stopping to help him.  I am sure he is already feeling like family.  I hope you have many great years together if no one is looking for him.

All my dogs, er four footed family, for the last 15 or so years have been rescues or strays.  They have all been fantastic.  You gotta keep him...he matches the rug.

Amen to that. Although I'm thinking that the dogs have been the rescuer and I've been the rescuee

Your story reminds me of my old boy Sage. Best friend a man could have. You guys deserve each other. It was meant to be!

He looks to have a little Lab in him. After Bandit, I will not have another dog that isn't at least part Lab. I am not hung up on purebred or anything like that, but Bandit has been hands down one of the most easily trainable dogs I have ever met. The wife wants a Golden, and I hear they are great too, but I don't know, Bandit and the Lab has made a very firm home in my heart.
