How many of you carry a spare magazine?

I didn't carry any extra mags until I read the post about the guy at Valley Fair, MN getting attacked by eight nice young men. I just figured 18 would be enough, but there's much more to consider than just the capacity of your primary mag... like others have said, murphy always shows up when you least expect it.

For those of you who carry an extra mag in your pocket... you sure that’s such a good idea? I have been to the range before and dropped a few mags in my cargos or front pocket and it’s not the easiest place to get them out of.

IMHO I would hate to be trying to get it out of my pocket when I needed it, I mean after all if you really need it your already in a bad situation.

I carry a G17 with 2 extra mags weak side in a Fobus paddle rig for a total of 52 rounds... God I hope I never need all those.

I don't own any autos.....

But if I did...I'd just carry the one in it.

I just picked up a 2 mag holder so I'll start carrying extras tomorrow.

If I can get a long gun compatible with my 92 I will probably always keep 2 or 3 spare mags in the car + the trunk gun but the 92 is really a winter only carry its just to big to attempt to conceal without a jacket or coat.

I carry a Colt DS or Smith J-frame and always carry a NAA22 bug. Now everyone's got me thinking I need a speed strip.--MP

Phantom out of curiousity is your spare pistol a smaller firearm(.22,.32, .380) or the same size as your 1st carry?

I always carry which is tough in sweat pants and sweat shirt. I carry an extra mag whenever my clothing allows. Right now I'm trying to find a good way to carry the mag in sweats.

I agree, Thunderwear! If you carry a doublestack mag, it may help picking up a date! LOL!

I am of the school of thought that two guns are one and one gun can be none. It or they are smaller. My American Express card ( I call it that because I never leave home without it) is a Seecamp .32 . I am also known to carry a Taurus 851 snubby .38 as well as my main which is an XD9. Yes, you read that right. Many times I will carry three firearms. I carry 1 extra mag for my main in a Safariland #123 horizontal mag case and 1 extra mag for the Seecamp in a Leatherman Mini tool belt pouch.
